"When Pharaoh drew near, the people of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they feared greatly. And the people of Israel cried out to the LORD." - Exodus 14:10 ESV

 After four hundred years, the Israelites were freed from Egyptian captivity. They were now free from all they knew. God had performed a series of miracles to release them.

They were in for a wild ride. What is God doing here? The first few miles must have been thrilling, but soon doubts began to creep into their minds, and they wondered where this journey would take them? Where would they find food and water? 

Then, the news comes: the Egyptians have decided that they will pursue them. They are surrounded by the Red Sea and the army. They panic and ask Moses for guidance, asking if God is allowing them to die.

Do you remember ever being in the same spot? God led you from one place, but now you must deal with new terrors.

You may have been saved by God from an abusive marriage, but you are now worried about how you will raise your children as a single parent. You may have been delivered by God from an addiction, but you are overwhelmed by the idea of sobriety.

It seems that what looked promising and promising is actually another end. God used the Red Sea to demonstrate His power and strength. Just like He made a way to the Israelites, so can He make a way to you. In the middle of your wilderness adventure, lean on Him.

 A Short Prayer for Today

"God, this felt like a new beginning. But now it feels like an end. I need your faith and trust during this time. In Jesus name I pray, Amen."
